You can play every game without telling us anything about yourself. Here's exactly what the site keeps and measures.

Stored on your device

Your favorites, recently played games and game saves are kept in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Your player profile

The first time you play, Webcade makes a guest profile for your browser: a random name like “Swift Otter 42” (you can pick another from our word lists), your level, achievements and avatar. It isn't linked to anything about you. It's stored with our database provider, Supabase, so it isn't lost if the game data in your browser is.

Signing in (13 and older)

To keep your profile on other devices you can sign in with Google or with a link sent to your email. Before offering this we ask for your birth month and year; we keep only whether you're 13 or older, not the date. When you sign in we keep your email address, and your Google account ID if you use Google, only so you can sign in. We don't send newsletters, and we don't sell or share it.

You can delete your profile, and everything in it, from your profile page at any time.

What we measure

To learn which games people enjoy, the site records anonymous play events: which pages were viewed, when a game was started and loaded, how long it was actively played, scores at game over, and errors. Each device gets a random ID stored in local storage so we can count returning players. We also record the device type, browser name and the country your connection comes from. We don't store IP addresses, names, emails or anything that identifies you, and we don't sell or share this data. Raw events are deleted after 180 days.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the site doesn't record any of these events.

Children

Webcade is for players of all ages. Players under 13 play and keep their progress as guests, which collects no personal information; signing in with an email address or Google account is only offered to players 13 and older. There are no chat features, no public profiles, and player names come only from our word lists.
